Transitional arrangements

5.1 It is important that adequate time is taken to consult on specifications which may be made under section 96 of the Equality Act 2010 concerning reasonable adjustments to general qualifications.

5.2 It is also important that awarding organisations have sufficient time to prepare for any changes. Schools and colleges also need time to advise learners on their choices.

5.3 Current arrangements in relation to reasonable adjustments to general qualifications are set out by the JCQ in their publication, Access Arrangements, Reasonable Adjustments and Special Consideration.34 It includes an explanation of where reasonable adjustments are currently not made. Current arrangements concerning reasonable adjustments as set out in the JCQ guidance document will continue to apply until any specifications made by us are implemented.
