Northern Ireland Equality Scheme
The aim of this consultation is to obtain your views on our equality scheme.
Statement by the Chair and Chief Executive
Ofqual is fully committed to fulfilling its statutory duties under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 in relation to all its functions in Northern Ireland. This draft Equality Scheme sets out how the organisation proposes to fulfill its obligations to promote equality of opportunity and good relations under this legislation.
We will ensure through a programme of communication and training that all employees whose work relates to functions discharged in Northern Ireland are fully aware of the need to implement the Scheme. We shall give personal direction and leadership within the organisation to achieve this, and ensure the efficient allocation of any necessary resources - in terms of people, time and money - to ensure that these statutory duties are complied with and that the Equality Scheme can be drawn up and implemented effectively, and on time. We also commit Ofqual to setting up effective internal systems to monitor compliance with these statutory duties and to monitor and review progress.
This Scheme has been issued in draft form, as required under the legislation, to allow consultation with all those who are affected by Ofqual’s policies in Northern Ireland.
