Qualifications for additional and specialist learning

Additional and specialist learning consists of regulated qualifications approved under Section 96 of the Learning and Skills Act 2000. The Diploma catalogues1 list all constituent qualifications for the Diploma.

18. Awarding organisations wishing to make their appropriate existing regulated qualifications available for additional and specialist learning must:

  • be recognised as a component awarding body
  • propose their relevant existing constituent qualifications for additional and specialist learning, in accordance with the relevant additional and specialist learning policy, taking account of areas of duplication.

Functional skills qualifications

19. Awarding organisations must be recognised as a component awarding body in order to offer functional skills for the Diploma.2
